End Launch Connectors

Original inventor of the end launch connector - precision RF transitions for microstrip and GCPW PCB designs, up to 125 GHz

Southwest End Launch Connectors

The original end launch connector - invented by Southwest Microwave for low-loss, mode-free PCB signal launch

Southwest Microwave invented the end launch connector and continues to evolve the product line with new robust standard and narrow block thread-in models. End launch connectors provide a low VSWR, mode-free broadband response for single and multilayer microstrip or grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) printed circuit board designs. Frequency coverage from DC up to 125 GHz across multiple interface types: SMA (27 GHz), 2.92 mm (40 GHz), 2.40 mm (50 GHz), 1.85 mm (67 GHz), 1.35 mm (90 GHz), and 1.0 mm (125 GHz).

Key Features

Unique clamping mechanism and robust design for reliable PCB mounting

01

Unique Clamping Mechanism

Adapts to board thicknesses up to .300" (7.62 mm). No PCB via holes required. The clamping design provides reliable mechanical retention and repeatable RF performance.

02

Multiple Block Options

Available in narrow block (.350" width) for high-density layouts and standard block (.500" width) for general-purpose use. Thread-in and non-magnetic options available.

03

Design Support

PCB connector launch design and stack-up model recommendations provided. 3D models for mechanical layout and encrypted HFSS models (version 18.0 or newer) for electromagnetic simulation are available upon request.

Interface Options & Frequency

Six interface types covering DC to 125 GHz

SMA (SuperSMA) - 27 GHz

Jack (female) and plug (male) options. Proprietary Southwest SMA design with extended frequency to 27 GHz. Suitable for general-purpose RF and microwave applications.

2.92 mm - 40 GHz

Jack and plug options. Compatible with 2.92 mm and 3.5 mm interfaces. Excellent for radar, satcom, and test equipment.

2.40 mm - 50 GHz

Jack and plug options. Compact design with performance to 50 GHz. Ideal for aerospace and defense applications.

1.85 mm - 67 GHz

Jack and plug options. Compatible with 1.85 mm and 2.4 mm interfaces. Suitable for millimeter-wave systems and high-frequency test.

1.35 mm - 90 GHz

Female (jack) options. Between-series adapters to 1.0 mm available. For E-band, W-band, and emerging 5G/6G millimeter-wave applications.

1.0 mm - 125 GHz

Jack and plug options. The highest frequency coaxial connector in production. For D-band, V-band, and beyond-5G research applications.
