ESA EPPL Certified Products
UMS has built a strong heritage in space over nearly three decades, establishing itself as a trusted partner for the European space industry. Many of UMS's in-house III-V technologies, including GaAs and GaN, are approved for space use and listed in ESA's European Preferred Parts List (EPPL) - a major endorsement of their robustness and long-term reliability. As an authorized distributor for UMS, TMT provides technical data and procurement support for ESA EPPL certified products for space projects.
ESA EPPL Certification Process
ESA EPPL certification requires the component manufacturer to pass the ESCC (European Space Components Coordination) system audit, including: wafer-level process control and parameter statistical monitoring, 100% non-destructive testing at package level, radiation characteristics evaluation (total dose, single event effects), accelerated life testing and failure mode analysis. UMS products listed on the EPPL cover core categories including LNAs, PAs, and switches.
Space-Grade Reliability Assurance
Space environments impose extreme requirements on RF components: thermal cycling (-55°C to +125°C), total dose radiation (10 krad-100 krad), single event effect protection, low outgassing (TML < 1%, CVCM < 0.1%), and vacuum operational stability. UMS space-grade MMICs follow ESCC specifications at every stage from wafer fabrication to final delivery, ensuring zero-defect delivery.
UMS Space-Grade MMICs
Covering frequencies from L- to Q-band, UMS's space portfolio includes LNAs, power amplifiers, attenuators, detectors, mixers, down-converters, and variable gain amplifiers. With European foundry services and flexible packaging options, UMS supports established space programs and emerging commercial ventures alike.
Space-Grade LNAs
ESA EPPL listed LNAs with noise figure better than 1.5 dB, supporting X/Ku/Ka band satellite receive chains and meeting ESCC 9000 quality grade requirements.
View Products ›Space-Grade PAs
ESA EPPL listed GaAs power amplifiers with output power ranging from 1-10W, designed for satellite transponders and downlinks, operating in both CW and pulse modes.
View Products ›Space-Grade Switches
ESA EPPL listed RF switches with isolation better than 35 dB and switching time below 100 ns, used for satellite communication band switching and redundant path selection.
View Products ›Mixers & VCOs
UMS space-grade mixers and VCOs support satellite onboard down-converter chains, covering L to Ka band, meeting space radiation and lifetime requirements.
View Products ›Southwest NASA/ESA Low-Outgassing Certified Connectors
Vacuum environments inside spacecraft impose strict limits on outgassing performance of components. Southwest Microwave connectors are designed with low-outgassing materials, passed NASA ASTM E595 and ESA low-outgassing certification (TML < 1%, CVCM < 0.1%), and can be directly used for satellite payloads, deep space probes, and space station equipment interconnections.
Low-Outgassing End Launch Connectors
Southwest low-outgassing End Launch connectors cover 2.4mm / 1.85mm interfaces, support DC-50 GHz, passed NASA ASTM E595 and ESA low-outgassing certification, designed specifically for satellite payload board-level interconnections in vacuum environments with excellent RF performance.
View Products ›Space-Grade Precision Adapters
Southwest space-grade precision coaxial adapters are used for RF module interconnection inside satellite payloads and test interface conversion. All use low-outgassing materials, passed ESA certification, with insertion loss below 0.15 dB and return loss better than 28 dB.
